'Wonder Woman' just gave the best gift to 'Justice League' - Opinion Board

Wonder Woman  has been a big blowout for Warner Bros. in the country. It is already the second highest grossing film this year in the country, just behind the record breaking Beauty and the Beast. But this is just the appetizer: Justice League is the main dish.


DCEU has been critically trashed the past few years but they have been proven to be critic proof in the country as Suicide Squad, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice are among the highest grossing films of their release date years. But it is notable that these were front-loaded which means word-of-mouth wasn't good. And this year, Wonder Woman  has changed that. Despite the strong competition, the superhero pic legged out and if the new data comes out, it should have already passed Man of Steel and (presumably) Batman v Superman.

This is the perfect gift for the upcoming Justice League movie. Justice League is already one of the most anticipated releases of the year and good reviews from the pre-JL movie will enhance the buzz it's already getting. This gives JL the chance to beat Beauty and the Beast as the country's highest grossing film.

The Vice Ganda-Pia Wurtzbach movie maybe a competition but it is possible for the two to both break records without hurting each other (if this movie will open on Bonifacio Day, Justice League has a one/two week distance both from Thor: Ragnarok and the Vice Ganda movie).

It looks like Warner Bros. will be very pleased with the performance of their main dish. All it has do now is to be a good movie...
