Wonder Woman
It's a wonderful week for Warner Bros. Coming off from the disappointing King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, the studio is back on top again with Wonder Woman.

The DC superhero origin story opened to a PHP 233 million on its first week (Note that this opened on Thursday rather than the usual Wednesday). That is higher than last year's Suicide Squad (PHP 161M) and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (PHP 162M, only two days were counted) opening week numbers. It is also ahead of the recent Guardians of the Galaxy 2 which opened to PHP 159 million.

The top three highest grossing cinemas were SM Megamall (PHP 9.52 million), SM Mall of Asia (PHP 9.39 million), and SM North EDSA (PHP 9.36 million). You can open the other higher grosing cinemas here

With strong competition ahead such as The Mummy and Despicable Me 3, it needs a strong word-of-mouth. Luckily this time, the DC movie has scored universal positive reviews from both critics and audience which can likely help this find its legs. A total north of PHP 450 million seems possible.

UPDATED (6/9/17, 5:25PM); In second place, Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge tumbled 69 percent this week with PHP 27.49 million. In two weeks, the fifth-quel has now stole PHP 138 million.

Third place belongs to the Dwayne Johnson-Zac Efron comedy Baywatch. The remake debuted to PHP 17.43 million in the country. Meanwhile, updated box office numbers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and The Fate of the Furious are now at PHP 312.75 million and PHP 380 million, respectively.
