Image
Poster of My Bebe Love: Kilig Pa More UPDATE (12|29|15): Here are the Day 3 totals (according to PEP) 1. My Bebe Love: Kilig Pa More -  PHP 157 million 2. Beauty and the Bestie - PHP 131 million 3. Walang Forever - PHP 36 million 4. Haunted Mansion - PHP 29 million  UPDATE  (12|28|15): According to 24 Oras , My Bebe Love  has already raked PHP 157 million in 3 Days. That's in line with last year's gross of The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin  which reached PHP 200 million in 4 Days (Note: Christmas fell on Thursday last year). Box Office (December 16-20, 2015): Strong 'Force Awakening' for Star Wars

Image
Star Wars: The Force Awakens Star Wars: The Force Awakens debuts strong in the Philippines. It opened to around PHP 188-190 million in its first week. That's way above the previous Star Wars debuts in the country. It might (I think it already is) already be the highest grossing Star Wars movie in the country. But the opening was not as high as the debuts of Marvel movies here although its unfair to compare with Marvel because Marvel is way more popular than Star Wars here in the country. The Force Awakens has 4 days remaining before the 2015 MMFF arrives (where only local movies are allowed to be screened except for IMAX) so audiences who wants to see Star Wars will be forced to pay higher or wait for it to return in 2016. If this plays like the previous three Hobbit movies (which were all released the week before MMFF), Episode VII will end up earning around PHP 440-450 million which will put in level with the country's highest grossing films which is good conside

Today's Review: 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' & 'Skyfall'

Image
Here's my short review/reaction of the latest movies I've watched (in no particular order). For reviews only: I will also add here my review/reaction from the US TV shows that I watch. My grade would be from 1 to 5. 1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Movie, US | Adventure | 2015) Review : Easily one of the best Star Wars (way above the prequel series and leveling the original series) to date. It is thrilling, action-packed and FUN (which has lost in the prequel series). Overall, it is a great foundation for the latest trilogy. Congrats J.J. Abrams! You nailed it! Score: 4.5/5  2. Skyfall (Movie, US | Action | 2012) Review: Personally, this is my best Bond movie. What else can I say in this sexy-thrilling chapter of 007? Score: 4.5/5

MMFF Forecast (Part 3): The pressure is on for 'Beauty and the Bestie'

Image
Beauty and the Bestie Release Date: December 25, 2015 Studio: Star Cinema & VIVA Films UPDATE (12|23|15): I've adjusted down my forecast for Beauty and the Bestie from 450 million now to 420 million Analysis: Beauty and the Bestie marks the fourth film of Vice Ganda in the Metro Manila Film Festival. Every movie succeeds (from 2012-2014) breaks the record of the his previous film. Last year's The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin holds the title for the highest grossing MMFF. Can Bestie follow the track? As I said earlier, each of his MMFF entry film breaks the record of his previous entry: from Sisterakas to Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy and to The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin . On paper, its easy to say that Beauty and the Bestie will follow that. But right now, it's odds have decreased. The movie will face the anticipated Aldub movie My Bebe Love: Kilig Pa More . And after four years, are the audiences finally tired of his type of comedy (personally, I'm not)? Coco M

MMFF Forecast (Part 2): 'My Bebe Love' targets MMFF records

Image
Release Date: December 25, 2015 Studio: GMA Films, OctoArts Films, M-Zet Productions, MEDA Productions, APT Entertainment UPDATE (12|23|15): I've adjusted up my forecast for My Bebe Love from 460 million to 480 million. Analysis: My Bebe Love: #Kilig Pa More brings back the tandem of Ai Ai Delas Alas and Vic Sotto which made Enteng ng Ina Mo the highest grossing movie of 2011 (though it was a crossover for two successful franchise). It will also be the first film of the 'Aldub' love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza. On one look at its poster, there's no doubt that it would be a hit. But, can it bring its fans to theaters? How high can it go? The Aldub love team has become a phenomenon. It has given Eat Bulaga ( Kalyserye ) a huge boost in ratings. Most brands on the country features the love team or either of them. Their Twitter buzz is marvelous. The love team can fill a 50,000 arena. But now, their buzz has calmed but it is still strong. The first

Today's Review: 'A Second Chance', 'X-Men: Days of Future Past', 'The Big Bang Theory' and more

Image
Here's my short review/reaction of the latest movies I've watched (in no particular order). For reviews only: I will also add here my review/reaction from the US TV shows that I watch. My grade would be from 1 to 5. 1. A Second Chance (Movie, PH | Romance | 2015) Review: Although I felt rushed, A Second Chance is above the usual romantic-drama movies of Star Cinema. It features a more complex plot (marriage) which I think Star Cinema hasn't done yet. Score: 3.5/5 2. X-Men: Days of Future Past (Movie, US | Action | 2014) Review: For me, this is the best X-Men movie yet. It has a well-constructed plot (to serve both the old and new actors) and a fast pace (so, go to the bathroom before watching!) which keeps the viewers alive throughtout the movie. Score: 4/5 3. The Big Bang Theeory - Season 9, Episode 11: The Opening Night Excitation (TV, US | Comedy | 2015) Review: Star Wars! Sheldon and Amy! Professor Proton! The mid-season finale of The Big Bang Theory
