Can '100 Tula Para Kay Stella' replicate success of 'Kita KIta'? - Opinion Board

While surprise hit Kita Kita is now on its way to PHP 100 million, another romantic movie is about to hit the theaters - 100 Tula Para Kay Stella starring Bela Padilla and JC Santos. Directed by Jason Paul Laxamana ('The Third Party'), this romantic comedy has the capability to break out the way Kita Kita did. Also, Bela Padilla and JC Santos (breakout star from the TV series 'Till I Met You') are much more popular than Alessandra De Rossi and Empoy Marquez. Can it replicate the success of Kita Kita?

If we look at its trailer views, it shows some strength. Its new trailer release by VIVA Films, which looks like drop this one to bank on the success of Kita Kita, has now viewed 2.5M times on Facebook. Its previous trailer was watched around 5 million times (CinemaBravo + VIVA Films sites). I don't have the data for Kita Kita's pre-release views but as of now its SineHub trailer boasts 13.5 million views. And again as I've stated earlier, this also has a much more popular stars which can make it more accessible to audience before word-of-mouth effects.

The biggest factor that propelled Kita Kita was the strong word-of-mouth it received from the audience. It also received strong reviews from critics with some calling it a 'feel good' movie. Competition isn't also that strong this August (Annabelle Creation is the only sure blockbuster hit this August). If 100 Tula turns out to be a good movie then VIVA Films has another hit in their hands.
