'Wonder Woman' beats iconic superheroes Batman and Superman as the highest grossing Warner Bros. film in PH
The Princess of Themyscira just showed how it should done. DC's Wonder Woman has now passed PHP 520 million in the Philippines' box office as of July 1. That bests the final numbers of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which previously has the throne as the highest grossing WB film in the country.
This number also puts it above Jurassic World (est. PHP 500 million) and just below the likes of Age of Ultron (PHP 634 million), Iron Man 3 (PHP 625 million), The Avengers (PHP 601 million), and Beauty and the Beast (currently the country's highest grossign film at PHP 676 million).
What's more impressive is that despite the huge screens eaten by Transformers: The Last Knight and Despicable Me 3, both of which experienced lower attendance than previous installments, Wonder Woman continued to do solid numbers.
"Wonder Woman' has shown tremendous staying power and repeat business at the local box-office, and we could not be prouder of the film" said by Francis Soliven, general manager of Warner Bros. Philippines.
With Spiderman: Homecoming opening tomorrow, it is likely that Wonder Woman will end its run around PHP 530 million which is a very impressive number that can help Justice League be the country's highest grossing film.
