The Vice Ganda-Pia Wurtzbach movie is already a surefire hit and is a big opportunity to change - Opinion Board

If Hollywood has Kevin Hart and Melissa Mccarthy as bankable artists in comedy, Philippines has none other than Vice Ganda. Last Friday, he dropped the news of having a new movie with Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach. It's very safe to say that it's going to be a huge hit form Star Cinema.

Vice Ganda has been on the rock lately. Since 2011, he starred in the top grossing films of each year (if you would count Beauty and the Bestie) and each year, his movies continue to increase. Last year, he has proven that he can still bring numbers outside of the MMFF season.

This time, he is teaming up with Pia Wurtzbach for a new movie. When I've heard about the news, I've already thought of many ideas presumably that will happen in the film. They are easily more compatible than the recent team up of Vice Ganda and Coco Martin (which was proven to be successful as well). Add in Daniel Padilla which is also a part of this untitled movie, the movie is guaranteed to sell across all demographic.

The only problem, like with Parental Guardians, is in the production crew of the movie. The Super Parental Guardians was the first Vice Ganda movie to be not directed by the late Wenn Deramas. It was clearly visible in that movie that it wasn't made by Mr. Deramas. They need to find a new director which can both bring out the best in Vice Ganda and tell a good story (Bb. Joyce Bernal's production was better but it lacks depth or even a good story flow). Actually, this is a perfect opportunity to do something different for a Vice Ganda movie: telling a better story. Fans will surely appear on its premiere whatever may happen.

Star Cinema is surprisingly doing some innovations lately. They are now distributing indie films like Baka Bukas and 2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten. The Darna  movie will be a game-changer to the cinema. I hope they can innovate their story department as well because people will still come.
