'Conjuring 2' triples; 'Now You See Me 2' 5X as 'Independence Day: Resurgence' debuts strong - Philippines Box Office (as of June 26)

Independence Day: Resurgence
Box Office Mojo and Deadline reports about the Philippines Box Office have been rarer than ever. But now, (June 22-26), Independence Day: Resurgence debuts strong with $2.13 million (almost PHP 100 million), enough to likely get the first week for the week. Also, here are the updates for our Summer Blockbusters.

But before that, the top theaters of Resurgence are here as follows: SM Mall of Asia (PHP 4.4 million), SM Megamall (PHP 3.8 million), SM North EDSA (PHP 3.3 million), Trinoma (PHP 3.3 million) and Glorietta 4 (PHP 2.3 million).

After a $ 2.19 million debut last week, Finding Dory has now attracted $3.96 million which beats total gross of Inside Out ($3.8 million) which is also a Pixar offering.

The Conjuring 2 has now tripled the gross of the first Conjuring
The Conjuring 2 has now earned $ 4.2 million in the country which bests Annabelle ($3.26 million) and the original Conjuring ($1.3 million). This is a strong figure for an Hollywood horror pic and also puts it in line with the highest grossing horror films in the country both locally and internationally. Meanwhile, thriller Now You See Me 2 has now banked $2.14 million which is way above the $0.44 million gross of the original one. Like Conjuring, Now You See Me didn't earn much on the box office but slowly got noticed by the audiences in streaming sites and (sadly) pirated DVDs which gave it a strong following in the country. Thanks to the growing fanbase of these two films and the booming box office market, both experienced strong increases in their gross.

Central Intelligence starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart has now earned $0.49 million after its $0.37 million opening last week.

Warcraft, the movie based on the popular game, has grossed $ 2.48 million. This is good but still disappointing considering how popular this game is here in the country. The gross will ultimately end there since its almost gone in the theaters.
