'Fifty Shades Darker' slaves the pre-Valentines Day weekend; 'John Wick 2' overperforms
The erotic romantic drama, despite (again) banned by SM Cinema - who has the largest number of theaters in the country, has proven to be a must watch for the audience. It's $1.8 million opening is slightly higher than the previous installment which opened to $ 1.7 million. What's more impressive is that the first one opened on a weekend with Valentines Day falling on a Saturday while Darker didn't had Valentines Day on its opening weekend.
In second place, John Wick Chapter 2 also did great business this week. The R-rated action starring Keanu Reeves managed to capture $ 0.968 million over a crowded week. This is unarguably higher (Deadline.com is reporting a +360% increase over the previous film) than the opening of the first movie.
