Another 'Civil War' written into History: Captain America 3 posts biggest Philippines' opening week gross ever - PH Box Office

Marvel. Enough Said

Captain America: Civil War shatters PH box office records. With 623 screens, the superhero battle between #TeamCap & #TeamIronMan opened to PHP 362 million, way above the PHP 339.8 million 5-day opening of Avengers: Age of Ultron). Clearly, Disney has executed a very good marketing campaign with this one. One more thing: Reviews are very positive which is a very good sign (Personally, I've watched the movie last Monday and the theater was full and responses were great).

Although its hasn't beaten Batman v Superman for the highest opening day gross (which is an unfair comparison. Explanation HERE), almost everything after it was beaten by Civil War:

- Biggest Thursday Gross: PHP 52.23 million (above Ultron's PHP 50.1 million)
- Biggest Non-Holiday Friday Gross : PHP 57.21 million (besting again Ultron's PHP 51.8 million)
- Biggest Saturday Gross: PHP 87.88 million (beating Batman v Superman's PHP 86.7 million)
- Biggest Sunday Gross: PHP 94.36 million (passing Ultron's 83.3 million)
- Biggest Single Day Gross: PHP 94.4 million (overtaking Batman v Superman's PHP 86.7 million)

Interesting Data: The three biggest contributors for this record-breaking gross are: 1. SM North EDSA (PHP 15.96 million), 2. SM Megamall (PHP 15.81 million), & 3. SM Mall of Asia (PHP 14.97 million).

Captain America: Civil War will face rougher competition this time compare to last year's Ultron. Next week, local counterpart-programming Just the 3 of Us and This Time will steal female audience followed by the The Angry Birds Movie and X-Men: Apocalypse will steal kids and male audience respectively the following weeks. For now, PHP 600 million seems a lock. Most importantly, this proves that Marvel can now go a little darker & personal with their films and a bigger Marvel Cinematic Universe is off to a great start.
