The world is talking about Deadpool and Philippines is no exception. The R-rated Marvel superhero debuted to PHP 145.96 million. That's a very remarkable opening for an R rated movie here in the country. The opening is also way higher than last year's Fifty Shades of Grey opening (though that movie were shown in less screens). A lot of factors can be attributed to this fantastic opening. One, it has a very strong social engagement. Ever since the movie was revealed, social media went outburst and in the past few weeks, the talk is all about Deadpool. Two, the movie opened on Valentine's Day which makes it a top choice for couples (adult couples or even teen couples). Lastly, it's a Marvel movie. Marvel movies are strong here in the country and Deadpool also gets help from that.
The market is not that crowded so expect Deadpool to continue its dominance while its is a big question how it performs on the second week (removing the Valentine's Day effect).A total north of PHP 280 million isn't tought to reach.
Dakota Johnson & Rebel Wilson in How to Be Single

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. comedy How to Be Single raked PHP 10.22 million. That's an okay opening but expect a fall next week after the Valentine's Day effect.

Star Cinema's Everything About Her ranked third with PHP 9.04 million. In three weeks, the Vilma Santos-starrer has already collected PHP 135 million.

In fourth place, last-week's The Revenant added PHP 2 million totaling up to PHP 24.34 million.

The Fifth Wave passed PHP 100 million in the country. This week, it added PHP 1.64 million (or an 81% drop, thanks Deadpool) managing to get the 5th place.

Adding PHP 13,748, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has a new total of PHP 387.005 million which makes it one of the highest grossing international movies here in the country.

Philippines Box Office (February 10-14, 2016), sorry for the late post!
